    1. Fun fact: 東郷茂徳 (Tōgō Shigenori), Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs during WW2, thought he could change the Imperial Japanese war machine from within. He was found guilty of Crimes Against Peace and was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. He died in jail.

    Fun followup: The most damning evidence against him was that he had (reluctantly, according to him) signed Japan's declaration of war.
